How to add a billion MySpace friends

Cute and to the point - did you know that the css style for your friends network is defined by:

.redbtext

Thus, you add:

.redbtext:after {
content: " billion";
}

to your Myspace profile and instead of showing 93 friends, say, it will show, 93 billion.

Neat, eh? I found that goodie over at Hacking A More Tasteful MySpace. You can see another usage of it at the Rich Hermit’s profile too.

Parental Observation and MySpace tips

Keeping track of your children on MySpace…it’s truly a hero’s journey!

As your children get older, it’s only natural they’ll start gravitating over to MySpace to network with their friends.  You can’t protect them from it!  If you don’t allow Myspace at your home, they’ll simply log on via public libraries.

MySpace is a fact of life for kids….it’s your job as a parent to ensure it’s as safe as possible.  Thus, here are some useful resources for you regarding teaching your child smart Cyberspace surfing.

Internet Safety: Internet 101 - Blog and Diary Web sites - this site gives a great description of MySpace, its dangers to unwary kids, and how to protect against them.

Parenting in ‘MySpace’ Era Challenging - As social networking Internet sites like MySpace.com continue to grow in popularity, parents need to take steps to ensure their children’s safety, experts said Thursday at a media briefing sponsored by the National Parent and Teachers Association (PTA).

MySpace.com Safety Tips for parents - For teens, MySpace is a popular online hangout because the site makes it easy for them to express themselves and keep in touch with their friends.   As a parent, please consider the following guidelines to help your children make safe decisions about using online communities.

It’s astonishingly easy for anyone to masquarade as anyone on MySpace.com - thousands of people have thriving fantasy lives in which reality hardly ever visits.  Children need to realize that surfing on the Internet is a priviledge, much like driving…and they need to get educated on the best way to navigate this territory.  Your kids will thank you for it.
